Michael Roberts is MetLife’s chief marketing officer and a member of the company's Executive Leadership Team. In this role, Roberts leads Global Brand and Marketing with responsibility for designing modern, value-driven marketing solutions to help MetLife build remarkable and enduring customer relationships and successfully execute on its strategy.
Prior to joining MetLife in 2021, Roberts was a principal at The Vanguard Group and chief marketing officer for Vanguard’s Retail Investor Group, the company’s direct-to-consumer business. In this role, he was responsible for strategy and marketing, including product and service strategy and customer acquisition, engagement, retention and advocacy across paid, owned and earned channels.
Before joining Vanguard in 2018, Roberts was chief marketing and digital strategy officer for Bank of America Merchant Services, the third-largest merchant services business in the world at the time. In this role, he oversaw all aspects of product, pricing, marketing, technical sales, digital channels, and overall strategy for the joint venture between Bank of America and First Data.
Previously, Roberts spent four years in various marketing roles at TIAA. Prior to TIAA, he held various positions at Citigroup, AlixPartners, Capgemini, and Ernst & Young.
Roberts holds a B.A. in music from Dartmouth College and an M.M. in voice from Boston University.
