Life has changed, the need to protect your family hasn't
Now you can get extra protection. Getting married, growing your family or purchasing a home means more financial obligations. Additional employee, spouse and child life insurance that goes above your PGCPS provided coverage can help your family handle expenses in the event of your death.
You can easily protect your family’s future, today
We've all experienced how important it is to protect the health and safety of loved ones. It's why you work hard, continue to save what you can and try your best to plan for what's next. Looking after those you care for should not be a financial burden. Now you can help ensure that future by providing your loved ones with the financial protection only life insurance offers. This way, you’ll know that the life you’re working hard to build for your family will still move forward, no matter what happens.
Eligible PGCPS employees are automatically enrolled in Basic Life insurance of two times your annual earnings at no cost. You have an opportunity to enroll in additional life insurance for yourself, your spouse and children through MetLife.
The optional, spouse and child Life insurance is a voluntary benefit. You will pay the entire premium for this coverage.
80% of people think life insurance is more expensive than it actually is.1
How do you know if you have enough life insurance?
Chances are you may not have enough life insurance coverage for yourself or your loved ones.1 Purchasing additional life insurance may lend greater financial security and peace of mind.
If you have a spouse and/or children, they may rely on you to help keep the household running. About 30 percent of U.S. households have no life insurance.1 It’s important to take steps to make sure your family is financially prepared if you are no longer here to cover expenses such as:
- Mortgage or rent payments;
- Insurance premiums;
- Transportation;
- Utilities;
- Food; and
- Child care/education fees.
Covering everyday living expenses is one part of the life insurance equation. Many families may have trouble keeping up with future expenses such as:
- College tuition;
- Wedding expenses;
- Child or aging parent care; and
- Retirement.
Consider life events that may cause you to need more protection. Getting married, having children and buying a home are a few examples. These could call for adding more life insurance coverage.
