Paid Family & Medical Leave
Paid Family & Medical Leave policies are designed to help you balance your work and family responsibilities.
What is Paid Family & Medical Leave?
Paid Family & Medical Leave (PFML), Paid Family Leave (PFL), and temporary Disability Insurance (DI) programs are state-mandated offerings which enable you to request a wage replacement benefit and/or leave if you cannot work because you are sick or hurt or due to a family matter such as bonding with a new child, caring for a family member who has a serious health condition or to address a qualifying military exigency. The applicable qualifying reasons for leave and/or benefits depend on your work state. Not all states offer PFML, PFL, or DI programs.
[What is the Family & Medical Leave Act?
The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is a federal law that provides eligible employees with the right to take unpaid, job-protected leave for qualifying events without interference or restraint from their employers. Job protection under the FMLA means that employees who use this leave have the right to return to the same job or an equivalent job with the same pay, benefits, and other terms and conditions of employment, with limited exceptions. The United States does not have a national paid family and medical leave program.]
