Group Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance 

MetLife's suite of AD&D solutions include:

  • Basic Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D):  Employer-paid coverage that provides an accidental death benefit equal to an employee's basic term life insurance amount.
  • Supplemental AD&D: Employee-paid coverage that complements the value of Supplemental Term Life with added coverage, a percentage of the death benefit amount is payable in the event of non-fatal covered losses.
  • Dependent AD&D: Employee-paid coverage that provides spouses and dependents with a benefit equal to the Dependent Term Life benefit amount.
  • Voluntary AD&D: Employee-paid benefit that is offered as a stand-alone coverage to employees, spouses and dependent children — available regardless of enrolling in life insurance.
  • Business Travel Accident (BTA): Employer-paid coverage that includes an additional benefit for covered accidents resulting in death or serious injury for employees who are traveling on company business, both domestically and internationally.

Group Variable Universal Life (GVUL): Combines life insurance protection with tax-advantaged2 investment options that enable employees to grow their savings for future financial security.

Group Universal Life (GUL): A single policy that offers two features: life insurance protection along with a tax-advantaged saving option that allows employees to save for their future.3

These coverages:

  • Supplement a 401(k) or other qualified savings plans
  • Provide access to cash value before age 59 1/2, without penalty or surrender charges4
  • Offer an option to include Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage

  • Funeral Assistance14 : Honoring a loved one’s life. Work with compassionate counselors that assist with customizing funeral arrangements with personalized one-on-one service. Not available for New York plans.
  • Beneficiary Claim Assistance8: Making the claims process easy. Beneficiaries get guidance from experts as they work through their options and financial needs with our Delivering the Promise services.
  • Estate Resolution Services15: Settling an estate with confidence. Providing unlimited consultations, either in person with an attorney or by phone, including court representations, providing confidence you've made the right decisions.
  • Total Control Account16: Reducing the pressure of immediate financial decisions, beneficiaries can take their time to make the right decision with full and immediate access to policy funds while earning a competitive guaranteed minimum interest rate.
  • Empathy17: Beneficiary support and guidance beyond the life claim. Empathy provides tools and resources to help a beneficiary manage grief due to their loss, provide guidance on probating and settling an estate, assist with closing accounts (e.g., financial, and social media), provide home clearing resources, and more. Beneficiaries can choose to get the support they need online through the Empathy app or web portal, by speaking with a dedicated Empathy Care Manager, or by using a combination of both options. Not available in NY.
